Late Night at the Corner Bar

My house got too crowded tonight, with the spirits and all
So I rolled my chair out of it, out of my stinking hole
And I entered the corner bar, just for a drink or two
Everyone turned and looked at me, the bartender said: "Hey, I know you.
You're that rich guy who was in that accident." I said: "Yeah, that would be me."
"Well, if you don't mind me asking he said, how did this come to be?"
"That story goes pretty back, are you sure that you want me to share?"
He answered: "Sir, that is my job and the deal, is kind of fair.
Cause I really enjoy a good story, especially one that is sad."
"Well, you will really like this one" I said "cause its ending's gonna be pretty bad.

I used to be an ambitious young man, my dreams couldn't fit anywhere.
But I'd rather be a simpleton, than this cross I have to bear.
I was full of ideas but short on cash, I had to do something, before it was too late
So I borrowed some money from a so called friend, with a low interest rate.
We agreed and I promised to pay him back, I crossed my heart, I hoped to die
I actually thought I could do that, I really didn't lie
His money was very helpful, and I made a million times that.
I should have given it all to him, when he came for the payback.
He came and said that he wants his money back and I replied that I didn't care.
There had been no contract you see, my signature wasn't anywhere.

He threatened, 'You're going to regret this' and I did, I still do
Cause his words came out to be, all of them true.
Well you already know the incident with the bus, there was more where that came from
I lost the use of both my legs that day and my empire burned down like Rome
I lost all my belongings with a decision that turned out to be bad.
So I gathered the little I had left, and went to pay him back
He told me that my legs and my kingdom were actually step one and two.
'On three' he said ' I'm coming, Oh I'm coming after you."
The bartender looked at me with disbelief, he said: "You can't really think,
That a man did all this to you." I smiled and finished my drink.

I paid and I got out, I got out of the bar
But on my way home, that familiar smell of tar.
The devil appeared in front of me, he said: "Long time no see."
"I can't believe" he added "that you didn't mention me."
