London's 'Bourbon Soaked Gypsy Blues Bop'n'Stroll' group The Urban Voodoo Machine teamed up with Brit R&B guitar legend Wilko Johnson one afternoon in September 2013 at Space Eko East Recording Studio Studios in East London with producer Alex McGowan. These 2 tracks are the evidence.

About the session, The Urban Voodoo Machine's band leader and songwriter Paul-Ronney Angel says:

I've been a massive fan of Wilko for years and was really keen to work with him. Our accordion played Slim (Blockheads/Boot Hill Foot Tappers/Joe Ely) has been guesting with him on and off for almost 30 years, so I got him to ask if he was up for a studio jam with us. We were chuffed when the reply came back with the words "I'd be delighted to"!
I wanted to create a raw and exciting vibe for these recordings, and I am very pleased we got it. What you hear is basically 6 musicians playing live in a room with only some horns, harmonica and fiddle overdubbed for extra spice.

The fact that Wilko had been at the Royal Opera House the night before, having Elton John pass on his lifetime achievement award to him, and now he was 'kicking out the jams' with us and swigging lager out of a can, in a cramped backstreet East London studio should be testament enough to how great a man he is!

About Wilko Johnson:
Wilko should hardly need an introduction. Founding member and songwriter with Dr. Feelgood, guitarist with Ian Dury and the Blockheads and a solo artist in his own right. His name shot back into the mainstream spotlight after the success of the film 'Oil City Confidential' in 2009 and he was given 10 months to live when diagnosed with cancer in December 2012. Miraculously, this Canvey Island Rock'n'Roll Legend is still rocking harder than ever and is currently in the studio making an album with Roger Daltrey from The Who.

About The Urban Voodoo Machine:
London based 7-12 piece led by Norwegian born Paul-Ronney Angel. They are a supremely talented collective of musicians and showmen/women that have been gracing club stages and festivals around the world since 2003.
