ATHICA Music - Washed
The Subliminator and Tunabunny
A Continuous Music Performance
Curator: Deb Chasteen | Co-Curator: Leslie Grove
Saturday, May 29th 2010
An event in conjunction with the "Deluge" exhibit at ATHICA Saturday, March 27th, 2010 - Sunday, May 30th, 2010

The groups will perform continuously, cycling through a piece by one, then one by another, then another by the next, rather than breaking the flow of the music.

They will explore the confluence of water's resonances--rite, scourge, cleansing, reflection--as they affect us in an overwhelming passage through our lives as floods, storms and even tears and rain. Water's movement is timeless metaphor; floods, deluge, or release are as often emotional as they are liquid.

Participating Artists

The Box Devils is a two-piece unit creating 21st century torch, whose haunting mix of guitarwork, beautifully wide-ranging vocals, and electronic textured ambiance (real time, no computers) evoke yearning and loss. Percussionist and maven of Athens experimental music scene Leslie Grove will join the Box Devils in some pieces.

The Subliminator, four-time winner of Creative Loafing's Best of Atlanta Awards, constructs a rich soundscape by intertwining digital theremins, vocal processors and phrase samplers with poetic narratives observed from unconventional angles.

Tunabunny is ...Tunabunny. This four-piece group is transcendental dance pop-with-a-P infused by joy, found improvisation, one part vegetable chemistry and one part Crambo. Nominated as Best Experimental Band in the 2010 Flagpole Athens Music Awards poll (closed the day before this show), Tunabunny is signed to Happy Happy Birthday To Me records.
