Welcome back to Balcony TV Edmonton! We're giggly and proud to present this week's artist, Joey D! Back in August, BTV Etown partnered with local venue Hooliganz, for their weekly open mic nights. Every week several bands and artists performed, vying for various musical prizes and we contributed a couple Balcony slots to the competition.

Along with last week's performers, Kayla and Melody, Joey D was one of the winners. I had no idea what to expect when he took the stage, having just met him moments before he played. His unbridled enthusiasm, and quirky personality made me wonder 'what in the hell is this guy going to sound like.' Moments later he had the whole crowd laughing. It takes a certain kind of talent and charisma that gets a room of curious music fans not only tapping their toes, but laughing all the while.

Similar to a staggering amount of Edmonton based musicians, Joey D fled our oil-drenched, hellhole of a neighbor to the North, Fort Macmurray, to find a more supportive community. With his catchy songs, and clever, self-deprecating lyrics, he's found it here in the City of Champions. If songs about three-night stands, trying on girl's pants, and being in love with 'dirty pirate-hookers,' is your thing, than bow down before your new king, Joey D!
