The Smoking Flowers - "Pistol Whip" - live at Refresh Studio Sessions - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 27, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
While on tour on the East Coast last fall, we were asked to perform at the Refresh Studio Sessions (likened to an east coast up-and-coming version of the Daytrotter sessions) in Berlin, MD, which is a quaint and picture-perfect historic town near Ocean City. We decided to take this opportunity to film a song that showcases Kim on drums, which is a big part of our live show.

The song we chose to do was "Pistol Whip", from our latest album 2 Guns. Pistol Whip was partly inspired by Scott's experience of attending Elvis's funeral in Memphis when he was 3 years old. It is also about co-dependence, surrender, and the muse of inspiration... whether it is your art form or your lover. It is an important song to us and has been a live show staple for quite some time. The vocal arrangement is one of our favorites. When we got the video back from Director Austin Widdowson we were more than thrilled with the results and felt it showed a quintessential part of what we do as The Smoking Flowers and one that had not been captured live to video as of yet. So here ya go.
