Playing along with John Coltrane Live at the Vanguard with the Slingerlands - Video
PUBLISHED:  Mar 17, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
1962 Slingerland kit, except snare is a mid 60's Rogers chrome-on-brass Powertone. Main ride cymbal (mounted on bass drum) is a 1,990 gram 22" Spizzichino. (Awesome! And you can't get it at Mycymbal.com!) Left-side ride is a 1950's 20" Istanbul K. Zildjian. (Also awesome!) Hats are 50s era 14" K. Zildjian on top of a 50s era A. Zildjian. Two Sabian splashes are stacked to left of hats. The china is an 18" Meinl Byzance flat and the far-side crash is a 70s era A. Zildjian 17" Med. Thin crash. This was the 2nd time I'd heard this song and I pretty much butchered it... even drop a stick! But hey... I know I suck. But not many can keep up with Elvin, so I feel a little better. It's full circle from Rolands to Slingerlands!
