The Opium Theatre from Glauchau / Germany

The band was founded in 2003 by:

Florian Hohmann (vocals, lead guitar, organ)
Sebastian Katterle (rythm guitar, bass, vocals)
Michael Lorenz (drums)

From the beginning, they were influenced by the sixties psychedelic sound and produced their first album "The Opium Theatre" in 2003, already. Soon Carsten Hemman (organ, bass) joined the band and the unique Opium sound developed further. In November 2004 they issued their second album „A Night at the Opium Theatre“ . In 2005, The Opium Theatre won Lars Dietrich (percussion) to play along with them. In the following years, they played many gigs all over Germany but unfortunately never had any international appearances. Instead, they constantly worked on their surf, beat & psychedelic blended music deep down in the basement of the domestic rehearsal room. In 2007 the Hannover-based Swamproom label issued their third album „Tout à coup", which became soon a gem for record collectors.
Today, the band plays very rarely but also never declared their official disbandment. Instead, a new album has been recorded in the course of the last years. Time will tell what comes next.
Stay tuned
