Franz Liszt: Réminiscences des Huguenots, Grande fantaisie dramatique, S. 412ii (1838 version) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 25, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
Liszt’s ‘reminiscences’ of Meyerbeer’s opera Les Huguenots (1838) does not seek, like the opera fantasies of some of his contemporaries, merely to embellish notable tunes with spectacular virtuosity (although they certainly display it), but also to convey something of the drama and spirit of the operas on which they are based. The 'Huguenots' reminiscence is largely based on the duet between Raoul and Valentine; Mark plays the second of Liszt’s three versions of his score at the 2016 Indian Summer in Levoca Festival
