A Groove Street.TV production...

Sitting down with The Flaming Lips front man, Wayne Coyne, is almost as much of an adventure as the chaotic bliss of one his band's tour stops. His mind seemingly moves moves quicker than his thoughts and trying to keep up can be challenging. If it can be accomplished though, it is like getting to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop... pure delight.

As a veteran of music and the arts, Coyne has managed to maintain relevancy in the constantly evolving world from which he has chosen to pay his light bill. Recollecting a period in recent music history wherein The Lips didn't manage to find their way into what was working at the time is impossible. From Beavis & Butthead in the "She Don't Use Jelly" 120 Minutes MTV days to recent collaborations with Yoko Ono, a rampant Twitter presence and becoming festival darlings by masterminding a stage set up that is massively simple and engaging as hell, Coyne and Company have been there.

But above all else, it is the incredibly beautiful music that they have continued to make along the way that has kept them front and center.

Last year while at the Hangout Beach, Music & Arts Festival, we sat down with Wayne in the back room of his bus (hence, the background noise) and over the course of ten minutes, covered the loathing of truck stop music, the absolute endearing quality of the word "motherf**ker" and The Flaming Lips' affinity for the vagina amongst much more.
