The Complexities of Color Coalition, in partnership with the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League Young Professionals, Interdenominational Ministers Action Council, Delaware Young Democrats Minority Caucus, and Delaware Black, are thrilled to invite you to attend our Wilmington Mayoral debate April 18, 2016, 7pm at Ezion Fair Baptist Church.

We believe that all politics are local and therefore these local races are of critical importance to our communities and the issues vulnerable communities face. Mayors across this country have the unique opportunity to innovate, make positive change, and address some of the biggest challenges facing urban cities. Wilmington is no different. Our Mayor will be faced with the responsibility of a city dubbed one of the most dangerous cities in the country with a crime rate of 81 per 1,000 residents and growing. Our small city is facing "Big City" challenges around abject poverty, crime, education, systemic racism, increasing police violence, and so much more.

Wilmington’s next mayor must understand and be ready with plans to act on day one of the job. People in general, but People of Color in particular, should have ample opportunity to hear from and engage with all candidates, this is why we are so excited to provide another forum for intense debate and discussion.
