Hank Williams death and what happened in his last 48 hours remains somewhat of a mystery to this day. On December 30, 1952 Hank Williams loaded up his '52 Cadillac, hired 19 year-old Charles Carr as driver and set out from Montgomery to perform in Charleston, WV for New Years Eve. They were driving on Hwy 31 towards Knoxville when they stopped in Birmingham where they spent the night of December 30th 1952 at the Redmont Hotel. What happened after they left Birmingham is still debated but Hank Williams died around midnight New Years Eve only 29 years old.
