I would like to bare my soul about The Band. You all have probably seen The Last Waltz. Most of you like me that had not heard of The Band before seeing The Last Waltz eventually research and have the very sad discovery of finding out that Richard committed suicide and that Rick was taken away from us way to soon. Garth who appears to be mother earth is around but fades into obscurity. Robbie uses his new found fame to catapult his career in composing music scores for hit movies and writing hit songs for artists such as Eric Clapton and maybe takes way too much credit for the legendary songs The Band had made famous. Levon is alive but his voice has been damaged from throat cancer. However, you discover that the news isn't all bad. He still plays the drums quite regularly. His voice is recovering and he's actually beginning to sing again. He is in a band with his daughter Amy and I'm more than sure she is proud to call him papa. Wow! Rick and Richard! I just now realized how truly similar their first names are to one another. Rick and Richard were the two fraternal brothers with very great promise and talent. Levon and Robbie were husband and wife and the two proud parents of the both of them. Garth was the grandpa that everyone love and look to for encouragement and wisdom. The Band to me was pretty much a family. Their bonds legitimized the Woodstock Generation. With that I would like to welcome you to Classic Albums - The Band in HD! Enjoy!

I'm having trouble trying to express the words that I think is befitting for man like Levon Helm. For me he symbolized the father that I always wanted. His smile was gentle and his essence will continue to live through all of us. Levon's heart and music was his gift to us and it is his heart and music that will heal our own hearts through this difficult time. One of the greatest gifts God gave to Levon in his final years was that he was able to experience the joys of being a grandpa. Pray for all of those who were close to him and pray that they will have the strength to celebrate his life and mourn his passing.
