The 3rd and the Mortal was a band from Norway that experimented with various styles of music, primarily metal, ambient, and trip-rock. Sorrow and Tears Laid in Earth consist of Melodic Doom Metal with gloomy riffs and the ethereal lead vocals of Kari Rueslåtten. The band has influenced many modern Doom Metal bands, and is also considered an early pioneer of the Gothic Metal scene.
