Historic Day August 15 Shining Century after Century
August 15 is the significant 70th anniversary of Korea´s liberation from the Japanese imperialist colonial rule.
On the historic day August 15, Juche 34 or 1945, the Korean people greeted national liberation.
Professor and Doctor Jong Chi Gon, lecturer of the History Faculty of Kim Il Sung University, has this to say:
"The great leader Kim Il Sung set out on the road of revolution in his teens and, through a sanguinary 20-year long anti-Japanese struggle, liberated the country from the Japanese imperialists. As he accomplished the cause of national liberation, Korea, once eclipsed on the world map, could demonstrate her might as an independent sovereign state and her people become the most dignified people in the world."
After liberating the country through the bloody anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, President Kim Il Sung won a brilliant victory in the crucial war against the world´s would-be strongest US imperialists.
On July 27, Juche 42 or 1953 the Korean people defeated the US imperialists in the three-year Fatherland Liberation War and brought about the beginning of their downhill turn for the first time in history. After defeating the US and Japanese imperialists in one generation, the Korean people fully displayed their dignity in the postwar reconstruction, socialist revolution and socialist construction as well. They turned Korea on debris into a powerful socialist country independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in national defence. And they are bringing about a great heyday in all fields of socialist construction.
Socialist Korea associated with the life of President Kim Il Sung could shine brighter as an invincible power thanks to the great Kim Jong Il.
Kim Thae Sik, Section Chief of the Academy of Social Sciences, has this to say:
"Really great were the efforts made by the great Kim Jong Il to build our country into a dignified invincible socialist power. In the middle of the 1990s the situation of the country was very difficult due to severe natural disasters, and due to the moves of the imperialists to isolate and suffocate it and their sanctions. The world was watching Korea.
Just at the time the great Kim Jong Il held higher the red flag of the revolution representing the life of President Kim Il Sung to firmly defend the dignity of the Korean people."
During his visit to the Phanmunjom post in November Juche 85 or 1996 the great
Kim Jong Il said to soldiers:
The trials of the Korean revolution at present are temporary. If we fail to overcome them, we will be reduced to slaves. The question is to become slaves or defend socialism. The most important slogan of the People´s Army today is to become slaves or remain independent people and independent guardsmen.
His instructions represented the will of Songun or military-first politics that we should remain the masters of our destiny and for the purpose, it is necessary to hold arms firmly and defend socialism, our life and dignity, to the end.
Ri Yong Il, Chief of Kaeson-dong Office in Moranbong District, Pyongyang City, has this to say:
"Now ours is the best country which provides genuine rights to the people and demonstrates its dignity all over the world as a man-made earth satellite manufacturer and launcher and nuclear state. The proud realities of our country changing day by day all started with August 15.
But for August 15 brought by President Kim Il Sung, it would have been impossible to think of proud and glorious today."
Today the Korean people are demonstrating the dignity and might of Songun Korea, the invincible socialist country, under the leadership of respected Kim Jong Un who is identical with the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.
The historic day August 15 will shine brighter century after century thanks to the invariable faith and will of respected Marshal Kim Jong Un to fully demonstrate the dignity of Korea all over the world.
