Originally written and performed in 1981 by the band Ph.D. The band consisted of Jim Diamond, Tony Hymas and Simon Phillips. The band members took the first letters of their last names to come up with PHD. This song was later rerecorded by the rock band Tesla where it became a big hit for them.
