Described as one of the most interesting and productive young Norwegian musicians, Stian Westerhus is active in different projects among which are Puma, Jaga Jazzist and Bladed. It doesn't come as a surprise that Jazztipend handsomely rewarded him by commissioning a composition for the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. His refined musical background was key in his joining the Nils Petter Molvaer's Trio and Monolithic, as well as a project with singer Sidsel Endresen. His eclecticism and curiosity drove him to experiment new sounds and helped all of his most important works to be released by Rune Grammofon, like the début album Galore in May 2009 and the new album Pitch Black Star Spangled.
