DESCRIPTION:
Led by composer Kirk Nurock, this is a course at NYC's New School For Jazz And Contemporary Music. The ensemble studies the sonic worlds of animals and nature, to enrich their own musical vocabulary. This annual event in NYC's Union Squre Park is sponsored by the Mayor's Alliance for Animals. It encourages and facilitates adoption of homeless and sometimes abused animals. The group's intention was to sing gentle, soft, tones to them in the spirit of healing and kinship. Special thanks to the Rational Animal organization. Video shot by Brian Hose.
