A little history between Italy and Egypt.

Last Queen of Egypt (Cleopatra) was born in italy and lived there for 18 months as a child, she also married the Roman Mark Anthony bringing her country of Egypt as her "dowry", and since then Egypt was part of the Roman Empire for over 7 centuries

The most famous building related to the Italian community was the Royal Opera House, which was to be inaugurated in the 1870.s

In the Middle Ages Italian communities from the "Maritime Republics" of Italy (mainly Pisa, Genova and Amalfi) were there in Egypt as merchants.

Since the Renaissance the Republic of Venice has always been present in the history and commerce of Egypt: there was even a Venetian Quarter in Cairo.

After Napoleon I, the Italians in Alexandria and Egypt started to grow in a huge way: the size of the community had reached around 75,000 just before WWII making it second largest expatriate community in Egypt.

Filippo Tommaso Emilio Marinetti was born in Egypt he was an Italian poet and the founder of the Futurist movement, and a fascist ideologue.
