Ed Sanders, poet and founding member of The Fugs, recalls his deep friendship with Harry Smith, compiler of the highly influential 'Anthology of American Folk Music.' Smith produced The Fugs' first album in 1965 for Folkways Records. This video is from a 1997 interview recorded at the Barns at Wolf Trap.

First published in 1952, Harry Smith's 'Anthology of American Folk Music' continues to influence folk and rock musicians worldwide. In 1997, Smithsonian Folkways Recordings reissued the Anthology in a 6-CD set, earning GRAMMY awards and gold certification. That same year, concerts and a symposium were held in honor of Smith's work.
