DESCRIPTION:
June Marisa Kaewsith, also known as "Jumakae", is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and organizer based in Long Beach, CA.

She has conducted spoken word workshops with various youth groups, and has facilitated theater skits with community members addressing local issues from wage theft to environmental racism. In her journey toward social justice and healing, she has learned that art and creativity must be central in movement building and collective action.

Her current focuses are around the intersections of community violence, and exploring alternative forms of intervention that don't rely on the criminal justice system.

She is a 200 hr registered yoga teacher working with survivors of trauma, and transformational life coach with a vision to empower others in becoming more comfortable in their mind, body, and spirit. "Why Consume What You Can Create?"

Live at Lockett's is an intimate concert series filmed in Christopher Lockett's living room in Los Angeles. It features artists from LA's eclectic roots music and poetry scenes. The performers are grounded in a roots tradition, but are not bound by it.

One camera, one lens, no zooms, no cuts, not even a microphone in frame - just a lone shotgun mic mounted overhead in a c-stand. Nothing between the performer and the audience.
