Sensory Overload at School Simulation - Video
PUBLISHED:  Feb 22, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Turn up your speakers so that the intro is *a little bit* too loud for the intended effect. Imagine hearing this when you are trying to do schoolwork.

For starters, I have Asperger's, which is a mild form of autism. Most of the time I'm totally okay with it, but sensory overload has always been a struggle for me.I made this little sound project over the past couple days to try and explain what it's like when I'm going into sensory overload at school (or anywhere, really). Basically, my brain thinks that all of the little sounds that most people filter out while going about their own business are of equal importance to loud noises when I'm going into sensory overload. The little sounds aren't exactly "louder" than other sounds, but my brain hears them more clearly than usual. My brain categorizes little things like clocks and pencil tapping and coughing as disruptive and a major annoyance if I'm exposed to a large amount of them all at once for an extended amount of time.
