PRESENTED BY XAVIER BRINKMAN

After a few of their members served their country, The Secret State has arrived, with their unique electronic tinged sound, to serve their fans.

The original core of the group: Dan, Josh and Mike grew up in Ellicott City, MD, a small suburban town just outside of Baltimore. Through time, they developed a strong affinity for music and decided to put their college careers on hold to pursue a career in music. As fate would have it, the very day they were to move to Jacksonville, FL to begin their quest, Mike was notified of his deployment to Iraq to serve as a combat medic for the U.S. Army. Josh and Dan forged ahead without him in laying the foundation for The Secret State, a name meant to convey a certain state of mind and euphoric state of being that individuals recognize within themselves.

The Secret State quickly gained a reputable following and reached career highs opening up for national acts such as Hinder, Jack's Mannequin, Tantric, Shinedown and many others. After winning countless battle of the band competitions and playing night after night at bars/festivals/concert venues, the group earned a reputation for good music and energetic performances which led them to perform for three consecutive years at the famed South By Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, TX and gain national critical acclaim.

Unfortunately, due to financial hardship and the economy slump of 2009, their momentum came to a halt and the band was forced to split. Dan returned to Baltimore and reenrolled in college and Josh went on to serve the country as a Defense contractor, where he deployed to several countries in South America and Afghanistan. After Mike's return from Iraq, he spent his time coaching a high school drum line and performing with various local acts.

The lull did not last long however. In 2010, Dan began working on a solo music project to bring personal closure to his life on the road. The project started igniting a buzz in Fells Point, the downtown Baltimore community where he resided. With this momentum, he called on Mike to join him behind drums. Searching for a third member, Mike and Dan found Hunter Schafer "The Hunts" (as the band knows him), who had a strong musical education. As the project matured the group called on Josh after his return from Afghanistan to play on guitars, thus reuniting the core trio in a new band they called Alice Anna.

In 2012, they landed an independent record deal with Stealth Tiger Entertainment and relocated to Los Angeles to record their album. Wanting to incorporate more electronic elements to their rock roots, Josh reached out to long-time electronic music enthusiast Danny Espinosa, an old classmate from the US Coast Guard Academy who had also served as a Defense contractor in Afghanistan. His 'beeps and boops' (as the band likes to call them) gave the group the original electronica / rock 'blend' it had been hoping for.

On their journey to identify with their new sound, they crafted "The Biggest Mistake", the first single off of their upcoming album. The song, a captivating and deeply personal effort constructed with precision, lets everyone know that they're here to make an indelible mark in the music landscape.

Now complete, the group decided to revert to their original name The Secret State. With renewed energy and momentum, they have begun to lay the grounds for what it hopes will become the next musical phenomenon. In the upcoming months the band will launch a national promo tour to introduce a sound that will rock the airwaves and transport the listeners to a new state -The Secret State.
