Classic Archive 042 - Samson François

This episode of Classic Archive is dedicated to the French pianist Samson François. Despite a short career, he gained worldwide acclaim for his unusual style of playing. First we see him in 1967, in Paris, performing Grieg's Pianoforte concerto in A minor with the ORTF National Orchestra, conducted by Louis Frémaux. Then, in 1964, again with Louis Frémaux, he performs one of his favorite pieces: Ravel's Pianoforte concerto for left hand in D major. The Orchestre National de l'Opéra de Monte-Carlo accompanies Samson François in this visionary performance of the concerto.
