Hi there my name is Ruby James. I'm a singer / songwriter living sometimes in Austin, Tx, sometimes in Los Angeles and a little bit of everywhere in between. At this time I'm trying to raise money to record and promote my next album which will be recorded live off the floor at Sun Studios in Memphis (like they did in the old days!)

Making and promoting a record costs a lot of money. The amounts vary from artist to project but here are the approximate amounts for my project.. The Studio, engineer/producer will cost approximately $5,000-$8000, The Musicians, Travel Expenses and Lodging will cost about $5,000. Mastering the album costs $1500 and then you have to press the album and that costs around $2000.

I've tried to set a humble goal of $10,000 for this project which could be a bare bones minimum but it is clearly not all the money that I need to make it happen but since kickstarter is an All or Nothing kind of platform it seemed like this was a reasonable amount to shoot for and if you want, you can pledge as little as $1 And I will still be very thankful for your help. Can you imagine if everyone who saw this pledged just $1... I would far far exceed my goal :)

After all that, there is money to be spent on Promotion: Radio promoter, Publicist, Posters, Stickers & T-Shirts. All of that is another $10,000 at minimum and that's not even including Tour costs!

Granted, I don't have to do all of these things, but after self-releasing 2 albums and working as a professional touring musician for the last several years, I've found that all of these things help and make it much easier to tour, promote an album and sell my music out on the road.

And that's where I really love to spend most of my time on the road! I love getting to travel and play music and connect with new people! There are so many of you that have been so supportive of my career who I haven't had a chance to meet yet! Now, I'm hoping that with your help and the help of kickstarter, we can finally get Me to You! I'm very grateful to be working with a booking agent (which is a huge blessing) so, all of this feels totally possible and with your help we can hopefully expand My Team.

I'm really excited to get this project underway and make my way to Memphis, Tn to the place where Rock and Roll was born cause deep down what i really love most is to ROCK! :)
