Interview with Ronnie Hawkins - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jan 15, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
For more than half a century, Ronnie Hawkins -- known variously as "Mr. Dynamo," "Sir Ronnie," "Rompin' Ronnie" and "The Hawk" -- has been energizing crowds with his signature rockabilly swagger. Over the years, he's been backed by members of the Band, Janis Joplin's Full Tilt Boogie Band, Ronnie Lane and the Disciples. He's spent time with John Lennon and Yoko One, and was asked to perform at Bill Clinton's inaugural party -- the former President is a big fan.

In this clip, filmed backstage at the 17th annual American Music Masters concert honoring Chuck Berry, Hawkins shares memories of first hearing Chuck Berry, the impact of Berry's lyrics and guitar playing, why he renamed Berry's tune "Forty Days" and more.
