Early 20th century: Carl Lindström - "Min falska Johanna" - Video

DESCRIPTION:
I thought I might feature some early 20th century music on my channel. Music that was not only common on gramophone records, but also in the Swedish/Nordic society in the beginning of the 1900's.
I am going to start with a Swedish song called "Min falska Johanna" (My false Johanna) sung by Carl Lindström, recorded in 1910.
The record states "Bygdemålstalare" which might translate to countryside speaker. It is a type of singer or entertainer who performed in the countryside. They were also called "bonnkomiker", farmers comedienne or peasant comedienne and they had a quite special way of singing, as can be heard on this record. There existed several bonnkomiker in the late 1800, early 1900, many of them also made gramophone records, there were among such names as Theodore Larsson known as Skånska Lasse and Karl Gustafsson aka Kalle Nämndeman.
Carl "Calle" Lindström (1868-1955) started his singing career in Norrköping in 1901. He had a long term contract with the Gramphone Company and made over 200 recordings. He also did tour the Swedish speaking parts of the USA.
I am playing the record on my 1929 Polyphone gramophone made by Deutshe Grammophon with a mica diaphragm, as I think old acoustic and worn out record sound best on this gramophone.
