"Snailhouse is a song I wrote for the Community Theatre recording we made In the Fall of 2013. Some folks from You've Changed Records were invited by our friends at Headless Owl Records to each write a song and meet in Whitehorse for a collaborative recording project. Over the course of a week, we recorded our songs drawing on the other musicians as support wherever needed. I had the great honour of having Construction and Destruction and Steve Lambke as my outfit. Finally, at the end of the week, we played those songs live at two shows in Whitehorse and Dawson City.

Snailhouse is a song that came together fairly quickly. When I wrote it, I was starting to write songs for an upcoming country album about family and home and where I grew up. Snailhouse also seems to be rooted in those themes. It's about the musical ties between me and my folks and it's about the impact Huntington's has had on our family. I ended up stealing the first few verses of Snailhouse to use as a foundation for the song Yesterday's Gospel, a track on my upcoming country album, Taking the Long Way Home." - Richard Laviolette

A full-band version of "Snailhouse" appears on the album Community Theatre - Northern Register (YC-020/HOR-008).
