The iconic Rhombus sound is a seamless blend of hip-hop, soul, funk, dub and bass and roots-reggae, blended together with socially conscious lyrics. They've forged a well-deserved reputation and following among New Zealand and international audiences for their eclectic, original and energetic live shows.
The core Rhombus production crew, aka Rhombus in Dub, comprises band founders and performers Thomas Voyce, Simon Rycroft and Koa Williams. Rhombus actively expand and collaborate with a collective of Wellington based artists for their live shows featuring guitarist Peter Hill and guest vocalists MC Antsman, Raashi Malik and Lisa Tomlins, together bringing a powerful and soulful voice in joining their musical styles and influences that include the Asia Pacific region.
In recent times Rhombus Live performances have evolved to include special guest appearances with renowned Contemporary NZ artist Michel Tuffery M.N.Z.M. who creates live visual projection based narratives, taking their live shows to a new level of experience and sensory stimulation for the audience.
Rhombus have performed alongside bands such as Fat Freddy's Drop, Kora, Shapeshifter, St Germain, Dry and Heavy, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Gomez and many more… Rhombus have consistently been awarded including New Zealand's Most Promising New Act in 2002; Best Video, Best Electronic Album and Best Album at 2003's New Zealand b-Net Music Awards and "Best Aotearoa Roots Album finalist" at the NZ 2006 Music Awards.
Rhombus have been spreading the word since 2002, touring on both local and international stages, which include Australia and Japan.
