We talk about lathing the record. This is misleading. The master is of course done on a lathe. However, the copies are pressed. What the video meant to say is there is a special spray that's used on new pressing to help them release from the molds. This remains on the record and needs to be cleaned. So yes, even your new records should be cleaned prior to playing.
