Supreme sweethearts of New Zealand Alt-country, Eb & Sparrow have gained critical attention and stolen hearts north and south, earning the respect of heartland New Zealand to the most contemporary listeners. On the back of their previous release Sun/Son (2015, Country Music Finalists for album & song 2016) they gained national recognition and have become renowned for their self-carved niche and musical style in the ever-widening scope that is Americana.

To The west was recorded in the historic homestead Ahiaruhe, in the heart of the Wairarapa during the summer month of January 2017, with Tui award winning producer and sound engineer Brett Stanton (NZ/Melbourne). Utilising beautiful old recording equipment and the large wooden building, known for both their lush textures and presence. Written by front-woman Ebony Lamb and arranged together with Gram Antler. The rhythm section taking a big step up and consisting of new drummer Justin Barr (Golden Awesome) Chris Winter on bass, Ebony Lamb on rhythm electric guitar, Gram Antler on electric guitar and Bryn Heveldt the atmospheric lapsteel throughout. The string section was once again the brainchild of Lyttelton based Anita Clark (Motte, Devilish Mary & the Holy Rollers).
