POLAR - Lifeboats - Video

DESCRIPTION:
Someone should really check in on POLAR just to make they're okay. If this 11-track debut album is any indication, the Guildford five-piece have some major issues. They certainly don't do happy endings, as songs like Broken Bones, Bruiser and H.E.L.L. testify. They do dark, acidic and violent though, with Adam Woodford's lacerating vocals less screams than physical expulsions of emotion, being worked out through a relentless barrage of hardcore noise . In fact, the only time they even slow down for a breath is on the penultimate, instrumental title track, which broods and builds towards one final, furious fling on For King And Country, Iron Lungs is a tough, tense record. Exploding out of Guildford with their EP early last year, Polar turned plenty of heads with their fast, venomous hardcore, and they've returned sounding louder, tighter and more pissed off than ever the second time around. Tracks like 'H.E.L.L.' demonstrate heaps of rabble-rousing energy that's true to the soul of hardcore, complete with fast kicking drums and infectious, barked gang vocals. And if that's not enough to get the pit moving, there's southern fried riffage throughout that's worthy of the bands Facebook manifesto: "Big beats. Strong booze. Loose morals. Good times." What more could you ask for?
