CELEBRATE IN ARKANSAS
Words & Music by S. J. Tucker, 2014

Down in the Delta when I was small,
The sun was hot & the crops grew tall.
I saw beauty everywhere I walked,
heard the sweet slow sound when the old folks talked.

You'll pardon me my Southern pride.
Our roots run deep and our smiles are wide.
Doesn't matter where I roam,
I follow the Great River Road back home.

Oh, Mammoth or Eureka Springs,
Mountain View to Petit Jean,
winter, summer, spring and fall,
We celebrate in Arkansas!
CELEBRATE IN ARKANSAS
CELEBRATE, CELEBRATE
CELEBRATE IN ARKANSAS

They say it takes a village to raise one child.
I say add forests deep and rivers wild,
and Ozark mountains, soft and green,
vistas like you've never seen.

From Evening Shade to El Dorado,
We got family dinner on the table.
We'll save an extra plate for for y'all
and celebrate in Arkansas!
CELEBRATE IN ARKANSAS
CELEBRATE, CELEBRATE IN ARKANSAS
CELEBRATE, CELEBRATE IN ARKANSAS

Take your time, for what it's worth
hunting diamonds in the dirt.
See those sacred waters flow
right in the middle of Bath House Row.

Bold explorer, if you dare,
Spend a little time down here!
Winter, summer, spring and fall,
We celebrate in Arkansas.
CELEBRATE IN ARKANSAS!
CELEBRATE, CELEBRATE IN ARKANSAS
CELEBRATE, CELEBRATE IN ARKANSAS
Winter, summer, spring and fall
We celebrate in Arkansas!
Celebrate in ARKANSAS!

Nifty Arkansas references in the lyrics for those who are interested:
-The Delta: I grew up in Dumas, AR in Desha County on US hwy 65. People who say Kansas is flat haven't been to my hometown! The Delta is a beautiful place year round for those who know how to look, but summertime and harvest time are my favorite parts of the year there.
-The Great River Road: It sounds like something out of a fairytale, but it really exists! You'll know you're driving on it when you see the distinctive ship's wheel road signs, and/or the Mississippi River right next to you. The Great River Road runs through ten different US states, Arkansas being one of them.
-Mammoth Springs, Eureka Springs: two gorgeous towns in northeast and northwest Arkansas, respectively. Both are well worth a visit.
-Mountain View: Folk music capital of the world, and they're not kidding. I'll never forget my first visit to the Ozark Folk Center with my parents when I was very young.
-Petit Jean: My favorite mountain, and the site of our oldest state park - the last two photos here were taken up on Petit Jean Mountain.
-"It takes a village": attributed to Hillary Clinton, used here with much respect.
-Ozark Mountains: We have those, and they're very special. We also have the Ouachita Mountains and the Boston Mountains.
-Evening Shade: A town up near the Missouri state line that you may remember from a certain TV show of the same name.
-El Dorado: A town down near the Louisiana state line whose name rhymes with potato (puh-TAY-tah) in the vernacular around here. And we really will save an extra plate for y'all, because that's just what we do.
-Hunting diamonds: ...is really and truly a thing you can do in the state of Arkansas! And people find them all the time! Also quartz crystals and other shiny things that grow naturally out of the right sort of ground.
-Sacred waters/Bath House Row: This is all true, miraculous as it may seem. Hot Springs, Arkansas isn't just a beautiful town, it's got healing hot water bubbling up everywhere, AND many a working spa, PLUS historical bath houses you can visit. It was also the site of my first concert ever, and so it'll always be dear to my heart.

Thank you all for your support and your time! I really appreciate this chance to share a song that pretty much describes how I feel about the place that raised me.
