Whasdat Music reintroduces the soulful classic "Love Ballad" with Eric King on vocals, who was most recently the lead vocalist on Terry Hunter's revision of Kerri Chandler's "Inspiration." Accompanying Mr. King is pirahnahead's melodic string arrangement that honors the original L.T.D classic (written by Skip Scarborough and arranged by Wade Marcus), and is performed by Pirahnahead's "Soulchestra."
The 17-piece "Soulchestra," (led by principal violist John Madison) which is a fusion of Symphony players from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Michigan Opera Theater, has been featured on grammy award winning albums by Stevie Wonder, Raphael Saadiq, Kem and (the late) Teena Marie, as well as dancefloor gems such as Quentin Harris / Ultra Nate's "Give It 2 U," Shuya Okino's "Still In Love," and Patrick Smadja / Tom Glide's "Luv All Stars" project alongside the EWF Horns. They have also worked with legendary producers and arrangers such as Paul Riser (of Motown) Johnny Allen (of Motown / Stax), and therefore infuse the track with some classic Detroit soul, along the backdrop of deep house rhythms.
