Sandro Russo - Omaggio a Domenico Scarlatti (Marc-André Hamelin) - Scarlatti Recreated - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 04, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Baroque composer Domenico Scarlatti was a master of the keyboard, writing 555 keyboard sonatas that employ finger-tying virtuosity and a deft mastery of the keyboard. These works demonstrate a remarkable inventiveness in their use of native Iberian folk music, irregular chord progressions, dissonance, and most of all in the employment of his own masterful (and often idiosyncratic) technique. Scarlatti's distinctive style and the works that he penned have remained a source of inspiration and debate for performers and composers up to this very day.

"Scarlatti Recreated" is a project and new album by pianist Sandro Russo, containing 19 transcriptions of and homages to Scarlatti by composers from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Please visit Musical Concepts online to learn more, see complete track listing, and links to buy this album.
