1898 Edison Suitcase Home Phonograph Playing 1898 Brown Wax Cylinder - Michael Casey - Video
PUBLISHED:  Mar 08, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Here's one of my earliest Edison phonographs playing a very early Columbia brown wax cylinder from my collection. This is a 'suitcase' Edison Home Phonograph model A from about 1898. It is completely original and features a brass mandrel and several other early features only found on the earliest Edison Home Phonographs. The brown wax cylinder is also from circa 1898 and features Russell Hunting as Michael Casey with, "Michael Casey Departing From New York On A Route To Boston By Steamboat. A Selection By Russell Hunting For The Columbia Phonograph Company Of New York And Paris". This Edison Home is probably the finest condition early model Edison Home Phonograph I have ever seen and owned. The cylinder is also a wonderfully preserved brown wax cylinder that plays outstanding. Most early brown wax cylinders are found today covered with mold and mildew but not this one. Thanks for stopping in for a visit and I hope that you enjoy the video.
