This "Fine and Mellow" tribute to Lady Day took place in Philadelphia Oct. 5, 2009 at the Church of St. Luke and the Epiphany, coordinated by vocalist Mary Ellen Desmond. Philly's legends were on hand to pay homage to Billie Holiday, born in Philadelphia. With Philly jazz royalty band Bootsie Barnes, Larry McKenna, Tom Lawton, Lee Smith, Byron Landham, and Mike Kennedy. Here are a few highlights, thanks to Dean Myers for his help editing this piece.
