Silence Broken - Peter Buffett - Video
PUBLISHED:  Mar 26, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Because the UN estimates that 1 in 3 women will be beaten, raped or otherwise abused in her lifetime and the average age of commercial sexual exploitation in the US is estimated to be between the ages of 12-14, Peter Buffett created "Silence Broken" - a song and video that honors women around the globe by sharing stories and the truth behind sexual abuse and trafficking.

The inspiration for the song and the music video came from Buffett's personal experience of visiting GEMS, (www.gems-girls.org) an organization that serves girls and young women who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking. While there, he was moved when reading statements written by the young women on index cards throughout the room. It was even more powerful when he saw the ages written below each event.

*The photos in this video are meant to serve as a representation of all the women in our lives -- sisters, mothers, nieces, daughters and friends. The words are real. The photos depicted in this video are not necessarily victims of trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.
