The show's 26 episodes, originally broadcast in 1981, featured Carry On stalwart Kenneth Williams voicing every single character. The teatime classic's characters included Willio The Wisp himself, along with The Beast, clumsy fairy Mavis Cruet and Evil Edna - a witch in the form of a television set.

Willo The Wisp was was written and directed by Nick Spargo. It was produced by Nicholas Cartoon Films in association with the BBC and Tellytales Enterprises.
