About This Release:

Teng returns this November with the 'Grand Statement' EP by veteran Techno producer, Paul
Mac, backed with a rework from Paul under his Jorge Zamacona, guise.
Teng Records takes the step from fledgling imprint to fully-fledged label here, after marking a
milestone with a full length for its tenth release. Since launching the label has found affirmation in its
intentions by picking up support from some key underground artists in the industry, such as
Christopher Rau, Tazz, Azuni and Deep Space Orchestra. Here the label pushes forward with more
exceptional material, this time enlisting the services of highly respected Techno producer Paul Mac,
the Brit producer has over twenty years in the industry, and an impressive back-catalogue under his
belt, so Mac's yet another experienced and knowledgeable addition to the Teng roster.
The release opens with 'Grand Statement', a galvanic, Acid-Techno workout built around punchy,
insistent drums and squelchy, evolving 303 lines. These two fundamental elements run throughout
the tracks just over five and a half-minute duration with an ever-blossoming dynamic adding intensity,
while subtle background automation creates a further intrigue for the listener.
Following is 'It's Not A Game', a Paul Mac track reworked by the man himself under his Jorge
Zamacona alias. This mix is a great contrast to the preceding cut and an outstanding addition to an
already appealing release. Distorted drums take the reins, while raw house chords, stabs and female
vocal licks drive the melodic movement.
Then, last up to close the 12'' is '92 Way Of Acid', embracing a similar aesthetic to the opening track,
with a gritty acidic vibe, yet opting for a more refined feel this time. Bringing off-kilter clap patterns, a
boomy 808 kick, and shuffling snares into the mix, while the 303 takes the lead again, subtly
blooming as the track progresses, and an amalgamation of vocal snippets are processed and
brilliantly flutter away in the depths of the background.
