DESCRIPTION:
The Dares were formed by twin brothers Ben Peterson and Matt Peterson. Originally from Vermont, The Dares began performing in California in 2004 after settling in Whittier, CA.

Their first manager was the legendary Ian Copeland who would mentor them for a short period to start their first west coast demo. Unfortunately, by May of 2006, Ian Copeland lost his battle to cancer.

Grammy Award winning producer John Jones (Celine Dion) picked up and completed the demo, further helping The Dares secure their first record deal with Jive Records in 2009.

After extensive touring with The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, The Almost, Cartel and Summer Set, The Dares broke from the label to start recording independently.

Brandon Shapiro (bass) and Anthony Aguirre (guitars) joined the band in the summer of 2010.

Shortly after, The Dares teamed up with a second Grammy award winning producer, Paul Ebersold (Third Day), and recorded full-length album "Duped".

Continually writing and recording, 'Nothing But A Start' breaks The Dares out of their pop-punk roots to a more alternative rock sound.
