DESCRIPTION:
Shukims big Seven O at East Dene Bonchurch. Saturday July 5th 2014. One of the last times time I saw Rod was at one of my Well Street birthday parties back around 97/98 ? He drank scotch on the rocks and played piano for a big chunk of the evening in the dining room before eventually smashing the neck off the empty bottle to play some authentic bottle neck on wash board Steve's guitar. Steve wasn't to amused about the claret all over the neck of his guitar but it was all jolly fun. Yes the joint was really jumping that night what with full on live music from everyone in the lounge too ! Rod flew off to the other side of the globe very shortly after that but chose a great time to surprise us all by making a sojourn back to the Island for a few weeks whilst back in the UK for his imminent birthday and a reunion in Basingstoke with his old band later in the month. He is not quite as hooligan this time around, (joke). He stayed at mine with his partner Wendy after the party and went straight to bed where he slept like a baby. Its good to see him again and meet Wendy too.
