Perhaps the most remarkable statistic of Pat Boone's career is that he was the biggest charting artist of the 1950s, with 39 US Top 100 entries, one more than Elvis (indeed Pat still holds the 'Billboard' record for spending 220 consecutive weeks on the US charts). Although he later became identified with big ballads and movies themes, Pat first exploded onto the US charts in March 1955 -- a full year before Elvis -- as a straightforward Rock 'n' Roller. His early releases were covers of uptempo R&B hits. However, it wasn't long before his record company, DOT, realised that there were plenty of R&B ballads that Pat could cover, and those were better suited to his warm, rich baritone. This one-of-a-kind compilation presents 31 of Pat's memorable ballads, from the most commercially successful phase of his extraordinary, sixty-year recording career. It features three US #1s and a further dozen US hits, including his self-penned, original landmark recording of Exodus (This Land Is Mine), plus a carefully-chosen selection of B-sides, LP tracks, and other rarities.
