Pangalay is a Tausug, Sulug or Suluk dance. The word pangalay was derived from the soft-spoken character or attitude of the Tausug known as "langay". It is also derived from the word alay that was said to mean "a dedication".
Tausug, Sulug or Suluk is mean Sulu People, the people of the current and/or to follow the "spiritual pathway" towards Allah.
Tausug, Sulug or Suluk are native of the Sulu Archipelago and North Borneo.
They called themselves Tausug, Malay and Arab called them Suluk while people of Mindanao and Visayas called them Sulug. Europeans and Americans called them Sulus.
