DESCRIPTION:
I started studying Mandarin in high school and have long been a fan of its beauty and intricacies. This song has always had a special place in my mind - from the lovely melody to the lyrics - can't get enough!
I wanted to share it with you!
A huge shout out to Mrs. Fisher and Jennifer MacKenzie..
Here is a basic English adaptation of the lyrics:
Do not ask where I come from
My hometown lies far away
Why do I wander on?
In distant lands, I wander on.
For the birds that wheel in the sky
For the brooks that flow in the valleys
And for the vast green meadows,
In distant lands, I wander on.
And then, and then
For my dream-spun olive tree
Olive tree
Do not ask where I come from
My old hometown lies far away
Why do I wander on?
Why do I wander on, far away?
For my dream-spun olive tree.
Do not ask where I come from
My old hometown lies far away
Why do I wander on?
In distant lands, I wander on.
