When Hurricane Katrina hit the US in 2005, it was the deadliest U.S. hurricane since the 1928 and the costliest natural disaster in the history of the US.

Within three days of Hurricane Katrina, MusiCares and the Recording Academy committed $1 million dollars to a relief fund. In the first three weeks of the crisis the MusiCares fund had provided $1 million dollars to nearly 100 people. For many people, it was the first sign of hope and help after losing everything.

To date, MusiCares has provided more than $4.5 million to more than 3500 music people affected by the Hurricane.

Thanks to MusiCares a lot of musicians will be coming back to New Orleans. Hear what they have to say and why you should donate to MusiCares.
