I'm posting this so folks can hear a bit of this mandolinetto being played. I built it in the room I'm sitting and playing it in. I'm about to this off, but before I do .. here's a quick and dirty rendition of a couple tunes I like. At A Georgia Camp Meeting, and Dallas Rag. I tried to change my playing position a bit to give an idea of some of the range of sound one could get out of this instrument.

Mandolinetto is a name for a mandolin shaped like a guitar. There were a handful of makers selling these in the early 1900's. They were found in the Sears catalogs, and a wide range of styles were available from very basic and cheap, to very elaborate. I've made a few based off the old ones. This one is a slight departure from that in that I changed the shape to make it slightly longer. This in turn has affected the sound, which I enjoy quite a bit. Enjoy!
