Champlin Mandolinetto - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jan 28, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
Here's a couple tunes so you can hear this mandolinetto. I'm playing Waiting For The Robert E Lee in the style of the Scottdale Stringband.. Then I play a no-name rag in C, a kind of mix of licks from random tunes I like to play. I was having fun learning how to edit videos and photos, hence the pancakes and the pig and stuff.

I made the mandolinetto I'm playing. Mandolinetto is a name for a guitar shaped mandolin. The heyday of this style of instrument was from about 1900 - 1920. This is the third of these I've made, and I'm currently mid-way through my fifth. I also build guitars. This one has cherry back and sides, sitka spruce top, mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard and bridge. Dovetail, hide glue, and shellac.. all the good stuff. The photos at the end are of two others I made.

Thanks for watching!
