Nadirah Shakoor and A1A first performed together for the Atlanta Parrot Head Club 20th Anniversary Party in 2009. Later that year they also performed together as the opening act for Jimmy Buffett in Atlanta, Georgia. They were joined onstage that day by Mac McAnally and Tina Gullickson of Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band, and a fantastic time was had by all. This paved the way for Nadirah Shakoor and A1A to spend a lot of time that year promoting her latest record, "Nod To The Story Teller." When performing together, Nadirah Shakoor and A1A perform a lot of Jimmy Buffett songs as well as some other classics. Songs such as Ralph McDonalds, "Just The Two Of Us" and Mark Cohn's, "Walking In Memphis" occasionally make their way into the set. The version you are listening to now was the first time that Nadirah Shakoor and A1A ever performed this song together. In fact, they had just learned it in sound check about an hour before the performance. The mix is a straight two track mix directly off the board from the performance that Nadirah Shakoor and A1A gave at Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia on August 15, 2012.

Many people remember Nadirah Shakoor as the lead female vocalist of the ground breaking hip hop group Arrested Development which she joined in 1992 and remained with until the group disbanded in 1995. Others know her as the featured female vocalist in Jimmy Buffetts' Coral Reefer Band. Nadirahs career did not start there however. Raised in Los Angeles California she was one of the areas premiere session singers. Her credits include albums by Quincy Jones, Madonna, Angela Bofill, Phillip Bailey, Speech, Jody Watley, Jermaine Jackson, Ralph MacDonald, and Jimmy Buffett, just to name a few. Nadirah released her 4th CD on October 14, 2008! Jimmy Buffett fans (known as Parrot Heads) have eagerly awaited "Nod to the Storyteller" a CD honoring Mr Buffett, her employer for the last 13 years. Nadirah covers several Buffett songs, most of them chosen by the Parrot Heads themselves. In addition the CD contains 2 of Nadirah's originals, 1 Eric Clapton song, 2 Mac McAnally songs and one by Art Neville.
