Behind the Studio Door Series: System 10 by Pittsburgh Modular - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 28, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
For every 3 or 4 minutes of music that I release, there are hours (and sometimes even days) of experimentation that you never see. It's far from glorious. It borders on tedious. It's just me and my machines snarled in a cyclical ritual of punishment, destruction, discovery and creation. An exploration of noise, discord, and musical limitations. It's no different than a painter mixing his colors or choosing his canvas. Creating the very base of his art and seeking the earliest forms of inspiration. This is how I create my very own palette of sound. It varies greatly depending on which piece of gear is caught in my sights for the moment.

Some of you are interested in the process. Some of you are interested in the gear, and I am fairly certain that some of you just like to hear the sounds of machines screaming at the top of their circuits.

This video series Is intended to give you just that, one piece of gear at a time. It takes you "Behind the Studio Door" to sit with me in a condensed exploration session with different pieces of gear.

This week, the System 10 from Pittsburgh Modular gives and takes punishment like a champ. It's an inexpensive hand-made semi-modular synth from a small business in Pittsburgh that simply stunned me with it's brutal sound and flexible architecture. Check out the video as I explore its sonic capabilities and put it through its paces... http://pittsburghmodular.com/system-10/
