DESCRIPTION:
“Sri Sri Dhuahat Belguri Xatra” was the auspicious location where Srimanta Sankardev met his spiritual successor Madhavdev. Sankardev's famous debate with Madhavdev, who was a staunch sakta earlier, and Madhavdev's subsequent conversion to Vaishnavism, is often cited as the single most epoch-making event in the history of the neo-Vaishnavite movement in Assam. The philosophy of their religion centers on Nama-Kirtana. Lord Sri Krishna, the un-manifest God, who was their Worshipful Deity, dwelt only there where the single-minded devotees of Him sat and sang His Name. It is Harinama and Harinama alone that can give liberation and nothing else. In this life or the next, there cannot be liberation without Bhakti. In NAAM GHOSHA, Madhavadeva, the apostolic successor and chief disciple of Sankaradeva expresses that “Srimanta Sankara is, as it were, the KALPATARU tree that fulfils all kinds of desire of the devotees of Hari. Verily, verily do I say I have no other Great Guru than Sri Sankaradeva” - The eternal peace which exist only in the eternity, no one but Shrimanta Shankardeva had flown out the river of endless pleasure from heaven to Earth for the benefit of human being.
